Wide Awake Woman: Jeanne Verger
This week, we are featuring Jeanne Verger as our Wide Awake Woman.

I met Jeanne Verger recently online. She owns a jewelry company and the pieces glowed in my Instagram news feed that day I came upon her page. A click to a click to another click led me to her. (We all know how that goes!) I landed at her website and I knew at that moment, I needed to know her and introduce her to all of you!

Here is Jeanne Verger's, owner of Jeanne Verger, Elegant, Empowering Jewelry

Tell us a bit about you:

For the past 10 years I have worked as an advertising and creative director at Warner Bros Records and for a full-service advertising agency. I loved every minute of my advertising career but a few years ago I started on my journey to inner well-being and my spiritual path. I unlocked many doors that I had never opened in my life up until that moment. My desires in life shifted and that little girl who loved being the creative designer showed up and was ready to express herself within my heart as an adult.  I listened and took the scariest leap of my life. I left the title and security of being a creative director for other brands and devoted my creative expression to share what I stand for in my life…which is love, self-expression, inspiration, seeing the beauty and potential of others, and serving as a reflection for their own transformation

What was the catalyst to Your Wide Awakening?

About 6 years ago, I started to ask the deeper questions in life, like what is my purpose, how am I showing up in the world and are there deeper layers to who I think I am? Once these questions started, they never stopped. In 2006 I was introduced to an amazing Master’s Degree program for Spiritual Psychology at the University of Santa Monica. In this program I was able to awaken a part of me that I had not yet discovered. A part that was more interested in uncovering my gifts, talents and loving heart while unlearning conditioned ways of viewing the world. I blossomed in this 2-year program and it was the greatest gift I have ever given myself.

I believe everything happens for a reason. Each path we choose, each path we don’t choose… they all take us to our learning lessons, our life’s curriculum. The moment I started to ask the deeper questions of life, my life changed. It took me many years of unlearning old ways of being and replaced them with updated more empowering thoughts and views that gave me a new purpose in life. By knowing who I am, trusting my truth and staying open to taking a risk, I understand that life is all about the journey and not about the outcome. If I did not take the time in my life to do the inner work, my creativity would not have had a safe place to be developed and my jewelry business would not have been born.

How did you go from thinking with your heart and not your head?

My first thought to this question is that I have learned the art of taking personal response-ability for my thoughts, actions and words. I make a conscious choice everyday to live from my heart and to let go of negative energy right away. By understanding that everyone is this world is doing the best they know how to do, I can have compassion for how each person in my life shows up. When I do start to feel the energy of either fear, being accused, personally attacked etc….before I react, I take a deep breath, try to separate my emotional feelings and see the facts of what is going on. Once I am able to drop my emotional charge, I then approach the situation from a balanced and solution-based place in my heart.

What tools, spiritual and/or practical do you use daily to continue living a miraculous, authentic life?

A few tools that I use in my everyday life are heart-centered listening, not taking things personal, trusting my voice and that what I have to say and express is vaild and important and seeing the loving essence in all. When I use these tools daily, my day unfold with grace and openness.

I have a beautiful morning spiritual practice where I wake up at 5:30am, I make myself a hot cup of ginger tea (sometimes I indulge with a cup of coffee) and I have a combo of practices. I start with a 15 min meditation which then leads into chanting the Maha Mantra on my harmonium, which then leads into writing in my journal and then I read a few pages from a spiritual book of choice. Sometimes I will also start my day with a few Sun Salutations and yoga poses when I am not going to the gym that day.

By having this consistent morning practice, I start my day connecting to spirit, my highest self, my body, breath and soul. I then am filled up to go out into the world and share my heart with everyone I encounter.

How do you deal with stress?

I handle stress in my life by eating healthy food, doing yoga, meditating, stopping many times during the day to take a deep breath, keep my thoughts pure and positive, spending quality time with friends and family and always following my heart and intuition. When all these factors are in full expression in my life, stress just does not have room to fit in and if it does, it only lasts for a short sec.

What is your favorite quote?

“Peace comes from within. Do not see it without.” – Buddha

I love this quote because it always reminds me to go within to resolve all challenges and find my inner guru.

What role does your jewelry play in the spiritual lives of those who purchase and wear your pieces?

The juiciness of life lives in the present moment and when we keep our thoughts positive we can create from a more grounded and powerful place in life. By wearing my empowering jewelry, you are reminded that you can attract anything your heart desires by holding a positive vision through repeating a daily affirmation. When faced with decisions, challenges or negative situations, touch or hold your necklace and feel the healing properties of the gemstones combined with your personal affirmation, knowing that you have the strength to move forward with grace and ease.
My mission is to support and celebrate your life through jewelry designed with positive intention that serves as an anchor to remind yourself that you are living your highest self-expression and purpose in life.

Just love it! Her intentions are straight from the heart!

ShirJoy's Prescription for WILD LIVING

My best friend for over 20 years, Shirly Joy Weiss, wrote a super powerful message on living a WILD LIFE, but a conscious & healthy WILD LIFE. I just had to share this with you all. ENJOY!

ShirJoy's Prescription for WILD LIVING

November 20, 2013 at 2:07pm

Does being wild mean drinking up a storm and dancing wildly on top of a loud, smoky bar? Maybe at another point in my life it did.

Does being wild mean driving recklessly at night to see just how fast I can go and how many people I can cut off?  Well, maybe to some but not to me.

None of these things are truly wild and in fact, the very consciousness that labeled these as wild is the very CAGED-IN CONSCIOUSNESS that has suppressed our wildness and created a ton of dissatisfaction, frustration, monotony and disease in our own lives and world.  Being wild is about being our true selves and about being free... and the more we allow our wildness to come out, the more joy and liberation we'll experience.  What's more is, from here life is a truly delicious adventure of the heart, with a beautiful new deeply enriching and joyful surprise waiting at every corner.

So what does being wild mean to me?

...Being wild means living faithfully by my inner instinct, rather than living by dictates of my mind, society and norms.  Being wild means living by the powerful, calm voice inside of me always leading me to greater good and joy.

...Being wild means living from a place of total freedom and knowing that the deepest, most true form of freedom comes from my freedom to think and feel however I choose to think and feel about anything.  I can choose to think of something in an empowering light, seeing everyone and everything as a blessing and as a miracle, or I can be CAGED IN by my thoughts if I view life and people as negative, hard, vindictive, etc.

...Being wild means being a visionary even at the risk of looking foolish and going after my heart's desires and dreams with steadfast faith. My wildness becomes my biggest support structure exactly in the moment when others, society or simply my head tell me "that's ridiculous, impossible, not real..." helping me gently shove them aside with a loving "Thanks but NO THANKS!", continue to relish in my beautiful vision and charge ahead!

...Being wild means getting back up, even after I have seemingly failed and continuing on my journey to experience just how awesome, capable, loved/loving, creative, abundant and joyful I truly Am!!

...Being wild means forgiving and being loving to those that seemingly hurt me or my world, even when the world thinks I'm nuts for doing so.  Being wild also means I won't be a doormat and enabler and while I'm lovingly forgiving, I will also take a stand for myself and my planet and will do what's necessary to eliminate that disrespect from my experience.... (Most of all, being wild is knowing this journey begins within me by forgiving and clearing whatever I held in my own consciousness that may have created this in the first place!  This is radically wild as it is so easy for us to think we had nothing to do with that person who did that cruel thing to me or my beloveds or that we had nothing to do with that oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico).

...Being wild means getting out of my head (out of the past, out of the future) and back into my senses, here and now.  Being wild means feeling my way through life, relishing in the deliciousness of every moment, now, and being led only from here.  Being wild means letting go of any preconceptions based in the past on how things, people and situations are/should be and just allowing the Great Mystery to unfold as it knows better to, being present enough in my body to feel where the wave is moving and faithfully flowing from here.

...Being wild means feeling my connection to my planet and cosmos deeply and keeping my connection alive consistently.  I constantly step on the grass barefoot and get out in nature, from which I came from and I Am part of, from which I obtain the most crucial Life giving forces, and thus receive, get grounded and remember who I Am!  I look up at the sky and starts consistently and feel such gratitude for the magical forces at play here and for the miraculous universe I Am.

...Being wild means being Self-Centered enough to find out what brings me most joy, cultivating my joy every day and then joyfully sharing my unique gifts with my world, knowing it is through my joy I Am most powerful and its is through my joy I am here to SERVE!

...Being wild means I love myself deeply because I know I am completely special while at the same time knowing I am not special at all because we are ALL special and loving us all deeply from here.
So what do you say?  Are you ready to be wild with me?  Are you ready to live more freely and richly and deliciously than you ever have before?  This is what awaits you and me from living and being wild.  It may stretch you beyond your caged-in, programmed comfort zone (trust me, I get it, WE ALL have these self-and-society-induced walls to move through and transform)... oh but the joyous, deeply satisfying journey awaiting you on the other side of that wall is more gratifying and beautiful than you can every imagine.
As Howard Thurman so perfectly said; "Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

I trust you'll join me!
Here's to a wildly, delicious life for us all!
Love to all!

What are YOU letting go of this Fall?

With the arrival of the Fall season, traditionally seen as a period of changes leading to the dark of winter, comes a powerful time to set daily practices in place that are supported by the changing of the season. Below are 3 areas to hold in your meditation or daily practices.

On the autumn equinox, day and night are of equal length. This signals the need to balance light and darkness within us. Far too often, we fear the dark and adore only the light. Below is a great quote by Debbie Ford, who I love and have read many of her books, about owning our dark side and loving it as equally as our light.

"You must go into the dark in order to bring forth your light. When we suppress any feeling or impulse, we are also suppressing its polar opposite. If we deny our ugliness, we lessen our beauty. If we deny our fear, we minimize our courage. If we deny our greed, we also reduce our generosity. Our full magnitude is more than most of us can ever imagine.”  - From The Dark Side of the Light Chasers

As we watch leaves fluttering to the ground in the fall, we are reminded that nature's cycles are mirrored in our lives. Autumn is a time for letting go and releasing things that have been a burden. Take a deep breath, release it slowly and imagine letting go of everything that weighed you down over the Summer and release it the universe.

“The truth is, unless you let go, unless you forgive yourself, unless you forgive the situation, unless you realize that the situation is over, you cannot move forward.”  - Steve Maraboli

Autumn reminds us of the impermanence of everything. We have experienced the budding of life in spring and the flowerings and profusions of summer. Now the leaves fall and bare branches remind us of the fleeting nature of all things. Susan Jeffers in Embracing Uncertainty gives us a spiritual practice to facilitate this twofold movement:

"I was once told that certain spiritual masters in Tibet used to set their teacups upside down before they went to bed each night as a reminder that all life was impermament. And then, when they awoke each morning, they turned their teacups right side up again with the happy thought, 'I'm still here!' This simple gesture was a wonderful reminder to celebrate every moment of the day."

Personalizing your jewelry is a great way to create an inspirational tool for you to remind yourself of a quality or way of thinking that you would like to embody more in everyday life. I love to do this with my jewelry as it then serves two purposes. First, the beauty and design of the jewelry piece adds that perfect accent to my outfit making me feel beautiful and radiant. Second, by infusing my jewelry piece with a powerful affirmation, it keeps me feeling connected to my highest-self and purpose in life. Below is a quick way for you to infuse your own jewelry and empower yourself to live a life you love.

Find a quiet spot in your home or out in nature where you can sit comfortably. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, calming your mind and connecting with your higher self. Now, with your quality in mind and your jewelry piece in hand, ask yourself: What does it feel like to embody _____ (speak your quality- examples: Love, Abundance, Creativity, Well-Being).

Breathe into the quality, embodying it and infusing your jewelry piece with the feeling of your quality. From this place, create your affirmation or mantra. Example: I AM gracefully embodying Courage as I show up for myself each day with confidence, empowerment and self-love. Allow yourself the opportunity to feel into your quality and affirmation/mantra repeating it out loud or internally over and over until you can feel it in your heart.  When you are done, write your affirmation down and keep it in a place where you can see it every day and repeat it out loud a few times each day.

You are now ready to wear your beautiful and powerful jewelry piece. Know that this piece is a constant reminder of the quality you now embody. When faced with challenges or decisions, hold or touch your jewelry piece and feel into the affirmation invoking the quality within. By doing this, you are actively working to cultivate that quality in your life each day and feeling it as you wear your elegant and empowering jewelry.
